Finding Home, 2001

series of 14 banners; vinyl, ink;  5 x 8 feet each

Finding Home was a collaboration between Diggs and residents of Deborah’s Place, a facility for recently homeless women in Chicago, and by invitation of a public art organization called Archi-Treasures. Diggs and volunteer residents worked together for five weeks to determine how the women felt that homeless were perceived, what they had learned from being homeless, and what expertise they now had that they would like to pass onto others. From 14 texts and images, banners were printed and hung in the facility's courtyard.
