Here+Then, 2006
200+ digital photos; Coroplast; screening; nuts, washers and bolts; manilla labels with strings; safety pins; pencils; dimensions variable
Commissioned for Ahistoric Occasion at Mass MoCA in North Adams, MA, this community-interactive project consisted of 200+ photographs of public sites in the town of North Adams. The installation was situated both at the museum and in a storefront in the town, the photos hung on strips of screening. Viewers were requested to write on manila labels about something that happened to them at any of the sites pictured; they then pinned their comments to that picture’s screen support. The town sites thus became a series of small histories lived out in public space.
